Overview
Africa's telecommunications infrastructure sits at an inflection point. Tower operators are under pressure to convert more than 170,000 diesel-dependent sites to renewable hybrid systems. 5G rollout is creating sustained demand for new civil works and power infrastructure. Data centre construction is accelerating across every major African city.
KXT works across all three. We combines civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering capability with an EPC+F financing model that lets us deliver infrastructure for tower operators, hyperscalers, and mobile network operators who need a single partner from financing to commissioning.
We design, procure, build, and operate the infrastructure that makes telecom networks run: the towers, the power systems, the data halls, and the fibre routes.
Market Opportunity
Africa has more than 170,000 telecom towers. The vast majority run on diesel, at a delivered cost to tower operators of USD 1.50 to 3.00 per litre across their African markets. A single tower can consume up to 20 litres of diesel per day. The economics of decarbonisation are not primarily driven by ESG mandates. They are driven by cost.
Tower operators including IHS Towers, American Towers, and Helios Towers have all committed to substantial decarbonisation programmes. IHS has committed to reducing its diesel consumption intensity by 60% against a 2019 baseline by 2030. Helios Towers has committed to running the majority of its portfolio on low-carbon energy by the early 2030s. These are documented programme commitments backed by multi-year capex allocations that need EPC partners who can execute at volume and at pace.
The 5G build-out adds a parallel opportunity. 5G networks require significantly denser infrastructure than 4G: new small cell sites, fibre fronthaul, and upgraded power systems at each location. Across Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa, the 5G rollout is creating a sustained multi-year civil and power works pipeline within the same client relationships.
Data centres are the third leg. Hyperscalers and carrier-grade operators are building new facilities across Sub-Saharan and North Africa to serve rapidly growing cloud computing demand. The IFC has estimated data centre investment across Africa in the billions of dollars over the coming years, the majority requiring EPC partners capable of delivering to international Tier III and Tier IV standards.

Investment Focus
KXT targets towerco energy conversion programmes under multi-year framework agreements. Framework agreements provide volume and revenue predictability: rather than bidding project by project, we execute a structured conversion programme across hundreds or thousands of sites under a single contract. That gives tower operators the execution certainty they need to meet decarbonisation commitments on schedule.
For data centres, we target hyperscaler-anchored or carrier-grade assets with contracted tenancy and long-term revenue certainty. Data centre clients require partners who can deliver to Tier III and Tier IV standards with guaranteed uptime from commissioning. We bring that capability in-house.
5G civil and power works are structured as EPC contracts with major telcos and tower operators, typically under multi-year rollout schedules aligned to spectrum deployment timelines.
Across all three segments, our EPC+F capability lets us co-finance programmes where operator capex budgets are constrained, converting pipeline opportunities into contracted programmes that would otherwise stall at the funding stage.
Development and Execution
For tower conversions, we design and commission hybrid solar systems with battery storage and grid backup, sized to each tower's specific load profile and grid reliability conditions. Our engineers use remote monitoring platforms to track system performance across entire tower portfolios, letting operators manage energy costs and uptime at network scale.
For data centres, we combine structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering with digital twin capability for long-term asset monitoring. We deliver to the Uptime Institute's Tier III and Tier IV standards, covering redundant power, cooling, and connectivity from first build.
For 5G civil works, our teams handle site acquisition support, civil foundation works, structural upgrades, power supply installations, and fibre connectivity across large rollout programmes. Our regional hubs in Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, and Johannesburg allow us to coordinate multi-country programmes without sacrificing local execution quality.
